10 of My Favourite Independent Businesses in Cornwall

November 2, 2020

A second lockdown will be particularly difficult for those independent retail businesses, especially those in tourism hotspots such as Cornwall who rely on the footfall of visitors to increase their trade.

Today I’m sharing 10 of my favourite independent Cornish businesses who will still be trading online for this period.  Please give them a like and a follow or support them with your business:

Jo & Co

One of my favourite shops in Cornwall (and to be honest, anywhere) – Jo and Co is the most stylish shop ever and I find myself wanting ALL OF THE THINGS when I’m in there.

Best for: gorgeous candles, books for friends, fashion, mugs, stationery and cushions

Willow & Stone

Another favourite shop and luckily for me, right on my doorstep, Willow and Stone are a staple of Falmouth life.  Need a gift for someone?  Willow and Stone is a sure fire winner for everyone.

Best for: beautiful prints, children’s toys and keepsakes, incredible books, scented soaps (seriously they are AMAZING) and original cards.

Frenzy by Zara

I’m lucky enough to be able to call Zara a friend.  She’s a talented jeweller and wonderful woman, making the most beautiful pieces.

Best for: memorable pieces of jewellery – her earrings are to die for

Badger and Birch

Despite being new to Badger and Birch, I am in love with everything Hazel offers.  Another Falmouth business (go Falmouth!) you can expect candle holders, tree decorations, pots, soap dishes and more.

Best for: sustainable style and artisan eco resin homeware and THOSE oyster candles – I want them all

Botanical Atelier

The best things come in small packages and this is so true when it comes to Botanical Atelier.  A petite boutique in Falmouth, this is a treasure trove of wonder.

Best for: Botanical art and books on plants, workshop vouchers, luxury pyjamas, notebooks, napkins and beautiful jewellery.

The Cornwall Candle Co

I have yet to actually smell a candle from this new brand but I’m in love with everything they do online and cannot wait to try one.  Hand poured on the Lizard Peninsula and infused with pure botanical essential oils, I have my eye on the Orange and Geranium.

Best for: candles of course!

Roo’s Beach

Based in Porth, Roo’s Beach is pretty much a destination shop in Cornwall.  Featuring everything from fashion and jewellery to candles, homewear, stationery and more, Roo’s Beach is a one stop Christmas shopping paradise….buying for myself!

Best for: unusual fragrances and stylish knitwear

The Clementine

I love beautiful Cornish gift shop, The Clementine.  Featuring an array of homeware and lifestyle products, jewellery, pottery, books and games and more, there’s such a lovely selection on offer.

Best for: pretty face masks, bamboo socks and pottery pieces

The Coral Grove

Mel is one of the most talented creatives in Cornwall and creates. stunning ocean inspired jewellery – from the unique Astra et Luna mother of pearl moon necklace to moonstone or opal rings and enchanting lockets, her pieces are magical and mesmerising in equal measure.

Best for: a super special bespoke piece or one of her beautiful pearl creations.

So there you have it, my top 10 Cornish independent makers and boutiques.  I would love to hear yours and to share the love for smaller businesses during this difficult year.
